Inspired by the classic films of old Hollywood, Let Me In combines the raw emotion of a pop-rock ballad with the beauty of orchestral film score. The music video pays tribute to that source of musical inspiration with its cinematic styling. Let Me In, in its nod to the movies, is a story of stark realization and love lost. Even through pain and feelings of doubt, a glimmer of hope still remains.
EDIT: Saw this on Fanscene, Dean Kaelin shares how "Let Me In" came about:
As far as the Preston Powis collaboration; David and I started writing some songs together a couple of years ago when he was doing his first album. We got several ideas down that I liked, but we never got a chance to finish them up. I mentioned to David that I had another talented student that I thought was an excellent writer and wondered if it would be ok with David if I let him listen to what we started and see what he would do with it. David said that would be ok. Preston finished up the song and we recorded it and sent it to David hoping that he might include it on his newest album. The song didn’t fit in with the album so David didn’t use it. I asked David later that since he wasn’t going to use the song if it would be ok if Preston used it himself.
Preston is a great young man. I think he has a wonderful voice and is a great writer. He has always sung, but was inspired by David to pursue his dream and try to become a recording artist himself. He was honored that David would let him work on an idea that David and I started.
