Buzz and tidbits, tidbits and buzz

There are so many mentions and things, so first let me thank FOD and Fanscene for some of these finds!
David Archuleta and his mother attended the Duffy’s Hope Celebrity Basketball Game fundraiser recently. According to the organizations website, “Duffy’s Hope Inc. advances community hope by fostering academic achievement and social enrichment for youth.”

We think it’s great that David is involved in so many organizations! Do you participate in any fundraising events throughout the year?

Jordin Sparks was 17 when she won in 2007, but she was up against 25-year-old Blake Lewis. And 17-year-old David Archuleta competed against Season 7 champ David Cook, who was also 25.

Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta: “What an awesome night it was!! Congrats to Scotty, and to Lauren as well for their amazing run and continued success.”

I didn't even know how much I cared until I felt the grin cross my face.
Scotty: here's hoping you make a record that's authentically you.
Lauren: trust me, ask David Archuleta, losing is the best thing that has ever happened to you.

That said, however, the "I saw so and so" chatter was nonstop before the show. There were reports of seeing Robert Downey Jr, Gordon Ramsay, Janice Dickinson and alums like Jason Castro, David Archuleta and Sanjaya Malakar strolling around LA Live.

The season 7 finale with David Cook and David Archuleta drew about 32.7 million.

After nail-biting finales like season seven’s, where David Archuleta and David Cook seemed to be running neck-and-neck until the last second, and the surprise Kris Allen win over Adam Lambert a year later, Santilli said it’s hard to remember a time when she was less anxious while waiting for Ryan Seacrest to make his announcement.

Buzz!

David Archuleta gets the giggles as he covers Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon In The Sky” in the first version video.

The 20-year-old musician first tweeted the video while in Delaware over the weekend, where he played a game of charity basketball for Duffy’s Hope.

David shared in a second video, “I think I have plenty of witnesses who were there to back me up, I can’t play basketball. Not even if it was to save my life (laughs). But it was fun! I had a great time and to help raise funds for the charity.”

David Cook makes his mom's night on 'American Idol'

David Cook is back on "American Idol," singing "Last Goodbye." One of my favorite contestants ever; creative, consistent and a great personality, on top of a strong voice.
Although every time I see him I remember those photos of him and David Archuleta goofing around after their season was over.

David Archuleta Takes Over Delaware

This past Saturday David showed off his basketball skills for fans at Duffy's Hope 1st annual Hollywood Invades the Beach Charity Basketball Game in Lewes, Delaware. We were there to cover it all for you guys. David was joined on the court by celebs such as actor Wesley Jonathan, American Idol contestant Jimmie Allen, and even his mom Lupe!

The day started out with a VIP meet and greet featuring all the celebs seated at a table in the auditorium outside of the gym. David sat at the end graciously signing and taking pictures with all who came, including the state trooper patrolling the room. After this, they all took to the floor for the National Anthem and some warm up drills. David came out all smiles trying his best in his number 7 jersey. While he might have missed all of his shots, he definitely showed A++ for effort. He seemed apprehensive when approached about actually playing in the game. After some coaxing from his mom and BET star Alesha Renee, David took his spot in the lineup.

In between playing on the court, David signed autographs for the fans on the bleachers and took photographs for those who came up and asked. David's mom gave him the play by plays throughout the game as they watched from the sideline. Bobbing along to the music the DJ was playing, David cheered on his teammates. The game was a close one with the celebs winning 79 to 78 against the locals.

After the game, we caught up with David. He had a lot of fun even though he claims he's "really bad at basketball." David's very excited to be working with the new band and looks forward to getting out there and seeing the fans. All you Archuleta fans get excited, David tells us more appearances are to come. David's a sweetheart and definitely a favorite here at Pop City Life. It's always great catching up with him. He's very appreciative for the continued support from all the fans.

Get ready for the 2011 Duffy’s Hope Celebrity Basketball Game. April 16, 2011
The mission of Duffy’s Hope, Inc. is to advance community hope by fostering the academic achievement and social enrichment of at-risk youth through advocacy, education, mentoring and community outreach. To meet our mission, our year-round H.O.P.E. (Helping Our young People Excel) Mentor Program, in partnership with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Delaware, has been active and growing for more than ten years. Additionally, Duffy’s Hope, Inc. facilitates an eight-week summer basketball program for area at-risk boys; we proudly announced our first girls’ league this season. The focus of both of our programs is to provide intervention, resources and safe-havens for area youth

The annual celebrity basketball game has become a major resource of promoting the importance of adult involvement in the lives of youth and the need for continual financial support of youth based programs. Money generated from the celebrity games help to maintain our youth programs and allow Duffy’s Hope, Inc. to expand its services throughout the state.
