Found Out About You: David Archuleta

The latest from guitarist-turned-contributor Scott Johnson from the popular local-bred band, Gin Blossoms. Each month, Scott will bring his favorite music news to the people in this, “Found Out About You.”

I have had the pleasure of meeting David Archuleta and sharing the stage with him last year when Gin Blossoms and Archuleta were both promoting new CD’s. He’s not only a great vocal talent, but a cool guy. During our recent chat about his upcoming holiday event, I asked him what he thought about the music business. The Utah native simply replied, “I learned to find my own voice.” And that he has.

The American Idol Season 2007 runner up Archuleta has blossomed from a television pop star, into a holiday star. Just before he kicks off his My Kind of Christmas Tour in December, Archuleta will be in Phoenix on November 12th, as part of the one-evening performance “Holiday Moments on Ice” presented by Pandora with Mannheim Steamroller and Archuleta at the new Grand Canyon University Arena in Glendale . The singer will be performing a selection of Christmas songs from his 2009 CD release, “Christmas from the Heart,” while some of our favorite ice skating stars, led by Brian Boitano and Kristi Yamaguchi, perform. Mannheim Steamroller will also perform their popular holiday favorites as well. The event will be recorded live and aired on NBC on November 27th at 4:00 p.m. Eastern. D

American Idol fan favorites David Archuleta & Casey Abrams raising awareness of Crohn’s Disease & Ulcerative Colitis in recent videos.

David Archuleta was a fan favorite & the runner-up to the seventh season of American Idol. He’s spent his time since American Idol traveling around the country & the world performing on tours & for different events. He recently updated his Youtube channel to discuss what he’s currently been up to. One of the topics he discusses in the video is the recent diagnosis of his older sister’s Crohn’s Disease. He thanked many of the fans who wrote to him regarding the condition as well as the CCFA. It sounds as though his sister is doing better, but as those dealing with Crohn’s Disease know, there is no easy fix & David states he is still trying to learn more about the disease & how he can best help his sister.
