David to be in Greece for Special Olympics event?

From USA Today:
Maria Shriver, who was snapped as she ran errands in Beverly Hills earlier this week, has touched down in Athens.

Shriver will be spending the next several days in Greece, where the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games kick off today.

Jill Biden, wife of the vice president, is leading a presidential delegation to the games, joining 7,000 athletes from more than 170 countries, their families, as well as thousands of coaches, family members, volunteers and spectators.

We can tell you that Shriver is in Greece with her children. She won't be speaking at the Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, but she is scheduled to walk out during the Parade of Athletes with Team Afghanistan.

On Sunday, she will speak at a ceremony that will be dedicating a statue and square in honor of Eunice Kennedy Shriver in Maroussi (next to Olympic Stadium). This is the first Special Olympics to take place since Shriver, who founded the games, died in 2009.

Among the celebs expected at the festivities: David Archuletta, Nadia Comanici, Brooklyn Decker, Michelle Kwan and Vanessa Williams.
Hmm...?

EDIT: According to Fanscene: "According to our sources, David had hoped to go to this special event, but a scheduling conflict made it not possible at this time."

So that settles that :)
