The Children’s Miracle Awards, presented by Delta Air Lines, is a formal event that honors outstanding pediatric caregivers at the 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Meredith Vieira will serve as the Awards’ emcee, with a vocal performance by David Archuleta, a song by children’s hospital patient Eileen Garrido and a piano recital by Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan.

Archuleta to perform Salt Lake Christmas concert

Utah native and former “American Idol” finalist David Archuleta will return to Abravanel Gall on Monday, Dec. 19 to perform a Christmas concert.

Archuleta’s three-week December tour will take him from New York on Dec. 1 and concludes in Beaver Creek, Colorado, on Dec. 21.

Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the music will commence at 8 p.m.

Tickets are now onsale at ArtTix.org, with a limited amount of tickets available at Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets for the all-ages show will range from $27.50 to $35, not counting service charges.

Archulta has also partnered with VIP Nation to offer VIP packages that include meet-and-greets as well as exclusive merchandise. Details can be found at www.davidarchuleta.com

The Murray native, who will turn 21 on Dec. 28, released a holiday album in 2009 titled “Christmas From the Heart” and is also the special guest in the recently released live Christmas concert performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir called “Glad Tidings Christmas.”

Archuleta released a critically acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2008. The Murray, Utah native soared to #2 on the Billboard charts, buoyed by his smash single “Crush.” The successful debut was followed up by Christmas from the Heart (2009), and The Other Side of Down (2010).

Most recently David is featured on The Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s holiday album Glad Christmas Tidings (released on September 6, 2011).

The 12-track album includes live recordings from the Choir’s 2010 Christmas concert from Temple Square, a musical spectacle that was seen by more than 80,000 concertgoers last year. The accompanying PBS special, featuring Archuleta and the Choir is scheduled to air across the country this December.
